Meet our Community Stand Out: Jennie
Say hello to Jennie (@jenniesgels), known as Jennie's Gels, based in Bridgend, South Wales. With 18 years of experience behind her, Jennie is all about healthy nail transformations, Russian manicures, sculpted nails, and a little bit of hand painted fun when her clients let her. She's been part of TCC for a few months, but in that time she's become one of those members who makes the whole community better just by being in it.
First things first, tell us a bit about you and your nail journey! 💅
"I've been doing nails for 18 years, known as Jennie's Gels, now based in Bridgend, South Wales. I'm all about healthy nails and transformations, working with different gels and tailoring every treatment to suit the client in front of me. Russian manicures and sculpted nails are my signatures and I always try to bring in a bit of fun, hand painted nail art too when my clients let me!"
18 years. Eighteen! I mean, wow 😂 And you can tell. There's a real depth to the way she talks about her work. It's not just about the nails, it's about the person sitting in front of her. That's the kind of tech TCC was made for.
How has your confidence changed since joining TCC? ✨
"I've only been part of TCC for a few months but even in that short time it's given me a real boost. Having a community of nail techs around you who get it makes a big difference. It's less about learning brand new skills and more about having people to bounce ideas off and feel supported by."
This is exactly what I hoped TCC would be when I started it. Not just a box. A place where you feel less alone in your business. And hearing Jennie say that, someone with nearly two decades of experience, means everything. Because it doesn't matter how long you've been doing this, we all need our people. 🤍
What do you enjoy most about being part of the community? 💬
"The support and honesty from other techs. Everyone's happy to share what's worked (and what hasn't), which isn't always easy to find in this industry."
She's not wrong. The nail industry can be a bit… guarded sometimes. So finding a space where people are genuinely open, about the wins AND the disasters, is rare. And special. That's what we've built here, and Jennie is a huge part of why it feels that way.
You're someone who regularly shows up to help other members. What makes you want to do that? 🙌
"I've been doing nails for a long time now so if sharing what I've learned along the way helps someone else avoid a mistake or feel more confident, that's worth doing."
Simple as that. No ego, no agenda, just someone who's been through it and wants to make the path a little easier for the people coming up behind her. Honestly, Jennie, you are a gem. 💎
Has anything you've learned from another member really stuck with you? 📱
"Social media is a massive learning curve for me and there have been some great tips and tricks shared in the group. I'll absorb whatever knowledge and advice I can get!"
I love this so much. Because here's someone with 18 years of experience, still showing up to learn. Still open. Still curious. That's the energy. That's exactly the energy. 👏
One piece of advice for a nail tech who's lacking confidence? 💪
"Confidence comes from doing it, not waiting until you feel ready. Every set teaches you something, even the bad ones."
I want this on a poster. (so we did it) On a mug. On a t-shirt. On the wall of every nail room in the country. Because it is so true and so many of us need to hear it. Stop waiting to feel ready. You learn by doing. Full stop. 🙌
And finally… TCC in three words? 🥰
"Supportive, honest, connected."
I couldn't have said it better myself. ❤️
Thank you, Jennie. 🙏
Genuinely, from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for being you. Thank you for showing up, for sharing, for making other techs feel seen and supported. You are exactly the kind of person that makes TCC what it is, and I am so glad you're here.
If you want to follow Jennie's work and see those Russian manicures and sculpted sets in action, go and give her a follow, you won't regret it. 👇
